The core mission of Coral Carbon is to create a serendipity machine and thereby help the planet. Each post contains actionable information on how you can get involved, what each organization needs in order to tackle their slice of the problem, and full outlines on how to build companies around each innovation.
We believe new approaches are needed to commercialize clean energy production, decarbonize industry, and pull greenhouse gases from the air and ocean. Coral exists to bring these changes forward into reality, document our journey to learn and help, and ultimately attack the big problem.
Who are you?
Coral Carbon aims to bring together innovators, allocators, and operators to revolutionize the current approach and tackle climate change. We are here to learn, share, connect, and build.
Innovators are the overlooked research scientists. They are doing brilliant work in academia, challenging archaic manufacturing methods, lending their talents to work on consumer goods while dreaming of helping the planet. Hobbled by outdated incentive structures and unable to reach the public with their message, Coral provides access to capital and connections with experienced operators that will unleash these intellects to focus on the work that is uniquely suited to them and the best use of their time.
Allocators are the stewards of capital. Successful in business, focused on data-demonstrated outcomes and character-affirming legacy, allocators are uninterested in funding another basketball court and are searching for leveraged impact. Coral serves as their translation layer by making complex science comprehensible, demonstrating impact on the problem and commercial possibilities, and ultimately the efficient and responsible disposition of resources.
Operators are technology company veterans transitioning to focus on climate. Hungry for commercial outcomes but driven by conscience, these professionals seek help understanding where their skills translate to maximize impact, how to separate signal from noise, and how to reach escape velocity in the hard sciences. Coral is their guide, coach, teacher, and recruiters, seeking to place each operators into the highest use of their skills.
About Us
All good love stories start with a glare.
We (Nicole and Chris) met at a software company and hated each other more or less on sight. It’s a long story, but one was an arrogant know-it-all, the other a brash salesman, and we’ll spare you the details except to say that it ended with us realizing that we were the best business and life partners either of us could find, and that we needed to work on big problems together.
We are technologists, mountaineers, capitalists, travelers, and company scalers. Nicole is a trained engineer, logistics guru, and can streamline any process. Chris is a zero-to-one startup builder, enterprise sales legend, and messaging wizard. Together we’ve chosen to help address today’s biggest scientific challenge; What can we do about our burning forests, acidic oceans, melting ice caps, and all the rest of the damage done from spilling greenhouse gases into the atmosphere?
